GALFER INTRODUCES THE KASHIMA FINISH TO ITS FLOATECH® RACING DISC RANGE

Galfer, the renowned Spanish brand specializing in high-performance braking systems, achieves a new milestone in racing history with the introduction of the exclusive Kashima finish, Japan’s premium-grade anodizing, now applied to the hubs of its Floatech® Racing range.

For the first time ever, the Kashima finish is applied to a brake disc, a technical breakthrough that enhances wear resistance and reduces internal friction, further consolidating Galfer’s position as a global benchmark in high-end braking technology. This innovation is particularly beneficial for Galfer’s patented Floatech® system, in which the brake track and hub operate under extreme temperature and stress conditions.

A New Step Forward in Floatech® Technology

Building on the design launched in 2021, the new Floatech® Racing Kashima discs retain all the advantages of the original system while enhancing them with this pioneering finish:

  • Improved thermal behavior: Above 200°C, the Floatech® system controls brake track expansion, preventing locking or deformation.
  • Lightweight structure: The hub design, optimized through FEM (Finite Element Method) simulations, achieves an exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio.
  • Perfect disc/pad alignment: Thanks to a system of washers and preloaded springs, the disc maintains its ideal position, eliminating the free play typical of other systems that generate noise and preventing pad knock-back.

Innovation with Racing DNA

The Floatech® system, patented worldwide (No. EP4075008B1), reinforces Galfer’s status as an international leader in braking technology, research, and performance. This technology is born directly from the racetrack, where every detail is developed and tested under extreme conditions to guarantee maximum efficiency, stability, and control.

Its development results from close collaboration between Galfer’s R&D+i department and official racing teams, who provide data and valuable feedback to continuously refine components. Thanks to this ongoing improvement process, innovations validated in competition are later transferred to production models, allowing end users to enjoy technologies derived directly from professional racing.

A prime example of this synergy is Galfer’s collaboration with the MT Helmets – MSI team, Moto2 (MotoGP) 2024 World Champion with Ai Ogura, which uses Galfer components in its racing prototypes. Both track and in-house dynamometer testing confirm the material strength, thermal efficiency, and mechanical precision of the Floatech® system, ensuring consistent performance even after prolonged braking cycles and high temperatures.

Through this philosophy, Galfer brings the expertise and know-how of the paddock directly to the road, offering riders worldwide the same reliability, feel, and braking power demanded by professional racers.
