The first e-bike event of the 2020 season and a double win for the riders representing Galfer Bike. Both José Borges in the men’s category and Melanie Pugin in the women’s category won their Gravity (Enduro) events while using brake products from Galfer Bike especially designed for electric bikes.
The WES is the first international competition for UCI-approved e-bikes since 2019 and includes races in two separate disciplines: Cross-Country and Gravity. In the Gravity events, participants must climb with their e-bikes and then descend the timed sections. This is where the riders for Galfer Bike demonstrated their full potential and took first place in both of the categories in which they competed. José Borges, from Portugal, won the men’s race on his Bosch-powered KTM, while Melanie Pugin, from France, won the women’s event on her BH Atom-X.
In the Cross-Country events, Melanie Pugin also earned a podium finish (3rd) in the women’s race, while her colleague, Alex Cure, finished 5th overall in the men’s category. Adrià Noguera (Megamo Factory Team) took home a respectable 6th place finish.
The next event on the WES 2020 schedule will take place in Switzerland on 18 April.
