FELIPE ORTS AND LUCÍA GONZÁLEZ DEFEND THE 2021 SPANISH CYCLOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

Felipe Orts (Teika UCI Team) and Lucía González (Nesta CX Team) were again crowned champions of Spanish CX in the Elite men’s and women’s categories respectively, at the Torrelavega circuit under extremely challenging conditions.

In the Elite men’s category, Felipe Orts (Teika UCI Team) broke loose at the start of the race and gradually opened up a gap between him and his rivals. Neither Kevin Suárez nor Ismael Esteban, both Cantabrian and also Galfer Bike riders, could challenge Orts’ solo ride. Not even a puncture half way through the race endangered his third consecutive Elite gold medal. This secured his record as the all-time best Spanish cyclocross rider in the men’s category.

In the Elite women’s category, Lucía González (Nesta CX Team) also proved to be far superior to her rivals and was awarded the 2021 Spanish CX championship title ahead of Aida Nuño, another Galfer Bike rider.

Also of note were the other two titles won by Galfer riders in the Under-23 categories, thanks to Iván Feijoo (Nesta CX Team) in the men’s category and Sara Bonillo (Teika UCI Team) in the women’s.

All of them use Galfer Bike brake products, specifically Disc Wave® DB102W brake discs and Advanced G1851 brake pads, specially developed for the extremely muddy conditions seen in this championship.
