The young Spanish rider from the Leopard Racing team ended his debut season on a high note with his maiden Moto3 victory.
As often occurs in the smaller class, the Moto3 riders were bunched together in a tight group throughout the race with victory being decided on the last lap. Five GALFER riders were present in the leading group with Dennis Foggia, Xavi Artigas, Filip Salac, Stefano Nepa and Carlos Tatay constantly changing positions. An incident on the last lap between Foggia and Acosta, when the two looked strongest, opened the door for Xavi Artigas (Leopard Racing) to take victory with a spectacular passing move on the final corner. GALFER brake components helped Xavi to his first victory in the Moto3 World Championship. Czech rider Filip Salac (Prüestel GP) achieved his best result of the season taking 4th place, while Italian Stefano Nepa (Boe Owlride) was 6th and Spaniard Carlos Tatay (Esponsorama Avintia) finished 8th. Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing) was penalised for the incident on the last lap and finished 13th in the race although he finished as runner-up in the overall category with 5 wins and 5 podiums during the 2021 season.
In the Moto2 class, the GALFER riders from the Stop & Go team completed their 2021 season. Swiss rider Thomas Lüthi called time on his racing career, retiring in Valencia with an impressive 12th place in his final race while team-mate, Dutchman Bo Bendsneyder did not have his best weekend, finishing 25th.
The race brought the 2021 MotoGP season to a close with preparation starting for the 2022 season, which kicks off in Qatar on 6 March.
