The Italian motocross rider won three of the four races at the Turkish-Afyon GP and is closing in on first place in the Women’s WMX 2021 World Championship.
Kiara Fontanesi had an almost perfect week in Turkey on her GASGAS equipped with GALFER disc brakes, pads and cables, winning three of the four races as well as taking most of the fastest times and the two qualifying rounds. Kiara Fontanesi, a five-time women’s motocross World Champion, is closing in on the overall lead, only 9 points behind with 2 races to go. In the same category, Germany’s Larissa Papenmeier finished on the podium in third place in one of the races.
In the EMX Open category, the French rider Nicolas Dercourt (Honda SR Motoblouz) won the final round at the second Turkish meeting and finishes the European championship in second position, 35 points behind the champion.
In the men’s Motocross World Championship races, two Italian GALFER riders had great rides: Alberto Forato (SM Action GASGAS) finished sixth in the Afyon GP, while Alessandro Lupino (MRT Racing Team KTM) finished seventh in both Grands Prix.
In MX2, Ruben Fernandez (Honda 114 Motorsport) came close to the “Top Ten” and remains sixth in the overall standings.
The next round of the MXGP 2021 will be held in Sardinia (Italy) from 18 to 19 September.
