The GALFER rider of the Repsol Honda Trial Team starts the defence of his title with his 70th X-Trial victory in the first round of the 2022 World Championship.
The Palais Nikaïa in Nice (France) raised the curtain on the new season of the X-Trial World Championship, with Toni Bou securing his first victory of the season in the indoor category. Defending his champion status, Toni Bou started this new edition of the championship as he finished last season: on the top step of the podium.
Toni Bou dominated the qualifying rounds comfortably, being the best rider among all the participants. In the final, Bou put in an excellent performance in which he was only penalised with 2 points, compared with 13 for the runner-up. A result that was more than enough for him to take the victory in Nice, ahead of his rivals Adam Raga and Galfer rider Matteo Grattarola (Beta). In 4th and 5th place were Jaime Busto (Vertigo) and Benoit Bincaz (Gas Gas), respectively, both also Galfer riders.
Toni Bou is the provisional leader of the FIM X-Trial World Championship with a total of 22 points in the overall standings, after also adding 2 bonus points for winning the first two laps of the course.
The next round of the X-Trial World Championship will take place on 25 March at Le Colisée in Chalon-sur-Saône (France).
