First round of the 2024 X-Trial World Championship, and first victory for Toni Bou and his Montesa-Honda equipped with Galfer brake discs and pads.
The Palau Sant Jordi, in Barcelona, has hosted the start of the international Trial competition in a vibrant atmosphere in front of more than 7,000 spectators who enjoyed the multi-world champion Toni Bou. The rider from Piera left no room for his rivals, securing victory with a 10-point lead over his main competitor, Jaime Busto (Gas Gas), also sponsored by Galfer. Toni Bou managed to overcome sections and obstacles that none of his rivals could, showcasing excellent piloting skills and precision, setting him apart.
Following Toni Bou, four other Galfer-sponsored riders have qualified, namely Jaime Busto (Gas Gas) and Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa-Honda), who competed in the final and finished with a one-point difference. The 4th classified was Matteo Grattarola (Beta), and the 5th was Adam Raga (Sherco).
In the women’s category, the “Women’s Trophy” was contested, where the Spanish rider Berta Abellán (Scorpa) caused a surprise by clinching victory ahead of the reigning world champion, Emma Bristow (Sherco). Berta executed a secure performance without major errors, while Emma incurred a mistake in one of the sections, resulting in a penalty of 5 points.
All Galfer-sponsored riders use the brake products from the Spanish brand, including the “Disc Wave®” W (front) and WLLG (rear) brake discs, as well as semi-metallic G1805 or sintered G1395 brake pads.
With this initial victory, Toni Bou positions himself as the leader in the overall standings of X-Trial 2024 with 22 points, 7 more than his immediate pursuer.
The next X-Trial event will take place at Le Coliseé (France) on March 15, 2024.
