The fourth round of the MotoGP World Championship held at the circuit of Jerez finished with a GALFER victory. The Italian team SIC58 did great and finished with two riders in the first two places in Moto3: Italian rider Niccolo Antonelli won and his team mate, Japanese Tatsuki Suzuki, saw second. Two other GALFER rider entered the Top Ten: Jakub Kornfeil (Prustel GP) was 7th, and Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Leopard Racing) was 8th —after winning Saturday’s pole position. The Petronas Sprinta riders also scored: John McPhee was 12th, and Ayumu Sasaki finished 15th.
The Moto2 race wasn’t good for our riders. Remy Gardner’s (SAG Racing) spectacular crash in the opening caused the race to stop and he was declared unfit to race. Sam Lowes (Gresini Racing) had to withdraw too. The best Moto2 result was Tetsuta Nagashima’s (SAG Racing), who finished 7th, his best sporting performance to date.
In MotoGP Tito Rabat (Reale-Avintia) scored one point after finishing 15th. His team mate crossed the line just after and didn’t score. Italian rider Pecco Bagnaia crashed and didn’t finish the race.
The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup 2019 also started last weekend at Jerez. This is the third year for GALFER to be the official brakes provider. The two races were won by Japanese Yuki Kunii and Spanish Carlos Tatay, who are tied in points at the top of the classification.
The next MotoGP round will be held at Le Mans (France) from May 17th to 19th.
