The new Italian rider of the Evan Bros. team took the inaugural championship victory and a second place in the first round of the World Supersport 600.
The Motorland Aragon circuit (Spain) played host to the first Grand Prix of the WSBK 2022, where Galfer rider Lorenzo Baldassarri (Evan Bros.) shone with 1st and 2nd place finishes in the two races held on the day of his debut in the competition.
In the qualifying sessions, Balda took pole position on his Yamaha YZF R-6 equipped with Galfer Floatech® brake discs, together with Racing sintered brake pads and metal brake lines.
In both races Baldassarri and Aegerter fought intensely for first position until the last moments of the race, with a victory for each of them. Lorenzo Baldassarri now leads the overall WSSP standings, tied on points with Aegerter. It promises to be a very close and intense season.
Of the other Galfer representatives, the performances of Finnish rider Niki Tulli (MV Agusta) and Italian rider Stefano Manzi (Dynavolt Triumph) deserve a mention. Both achieved a double top ten in Aragon: 5th and 6th for Tulli and 7th and 8th for Manzi.
The next round of the WSBK will be held in the Netherlands from 22-24 April 2022.
