The South African rider from the Evan Bros team won the first leg of the Estoril GP, although he was unable to finish the second race due to a mechanical problem.
It was the second date of the 2021 Superbikes World Championship and the third victory for Steven Odendaal (Evan Bros) and his Yamaha YZF R-6 equipped with GALFER brake components. Steven prevailed in the first round of Supersport 600 through his courage in a tight finish. In the second race he was unable to finish due to a mechanical problem that struck in the last lap while he was vying for victory in the leading group. Even so, Odendaal showed that he is the most consistent rider despite his inability to finish the second leg.
This means that Steven Odendaal remains the leader in the general standings of the World Supersport 600 with a lead of 6 points over his nearest challenger.
The next WSBK event will be held in Italy from June 11 to 13.
