The South African rider Wade Young and Spanish rider Mario Román took two spots on the podium at Red Bull Romaniacs 2021, one of the toughest Hard Enduro races of the moment.
The two Sherco riders put in an excellent performance in the 2021 edition of Red Bull Romaniacs, a race that counts towards the Hard Enduro World Championship. Under extreme hot and humid conditions, the riders had to tackle courses full of obstacles during the four days of competition, which included a marathon stage, without the possibility of receiving any external assistance. Sheer, muddy and rocky climbs, extremely steep descents through closed forests, and complicated river crossings were just some of the difficulties the Enduro riders had to overcome.
Sherco riders Wade Young and Mario Román took second and third place respectively on their bikes fitted with GALFER brake components. Young is now third and Román fourth in the overall standings of the Championship.
British rider Jonny Walker (Beta) also did well, finishing in fifth position despite some difficulties during the race. Walker is also fifth in the overall standings.
The Spanish rider Pol Tarrés (Yamaha) also deserves a mention after managing to finish the gruelling race in 22nd position on a Yamaha Ténéré 700, a bigger and heavier bike than those of his fellow competitors. This is the first time in history that a rider has managed to finish the race on this type of bike.
The next round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship will take place in Tennessee (USA) at the Red Bull TKO from 13 to 15 August.
