The Italian rider with the Evan Bros Yamaha team took 2nd and 3rd place in the two races of the Supersport 600 class.
The Estoril circuit in Portugal hosted the third round of the 2022 World Superbike Championship, with variable weather conditions over the weekend, and with Lorenzo Baldassarri (#7) as one of the main protagonists in the Supersport 600 class.
In the first race, Baldassarri started from fourth position on the grid, but did not get off to a good start, dropping to ninth position after the first few laps. However, he gradually recovered positions, thanks to the good track conditions and his Yamaha YZF 600 R-6 equipped with Galfer brake components, finishing the race in a superb second place. The other Galfer representatives did not have a good day and most of them had to retire for various reasons.
Weather conditions influenced the second race, with a light drizzle falling throughout. The riders, who started on dry tyres, struggled to stay on their bikes and there were several crashes. Nonetheless, Lorenzo Baldassarri rode exceptionally well, always in the leading group, and finished on the podium again, in third position. Baldassarri’s Yamaha R-6 uses Floatech® brake discs together with Racing sintered brake pads from Galfer.
Baldassarri remains second in the overall Supersport 600 standings, 44 points behind the leader, who did not slip up at Estoril.
The next round of the WSBK will be held in Emilia Romagna (Italy) from 10 to 12 June.
