It was a brilliant weekend for Can Öncü and the Evan Bros Racing Team at Misano World Circuit with the Turkish rider delivering an incredible performance in the World Supersport Championship. Armed with accuracy and belief — and helped by Galfer’s high-performance brake parts — Öncü dominated Sunday’s Race 2, earning his fourth victory of the season.
The victory was claimed by Öncü after he took advantage of a mistake from early leader Stefano Manzi. Öncü waited for his moment to strike, taking the lead and maintaining it until the race was prematurely halted via the red flag. His pace throughout was good, and his refusal to buckle under pressure was rewarded on a hot and greasy Misano track.
Öncü’s good work on the team was also continued on Saturday’s Race 1, where he came home in third position after a desperate struggle. His late braking and maintaining of tight lines around corners during the two races were evident — and a clear reflection of the way the Galfer braking system worked on his Yamaha.
Equipped with Galfer’s Wave Floatech® Racing discs and G1310 sintered brake pads, Öncü experienced stable, solid braking throughout the weekend. These components are designed to dominate the most aggressive racing environments, providing precise braking control, minimal fade, and phenomenal stability lap after lap — the kind of performance necessary on a circuit as demanding as Misano.
Due to this good result, Can Öncü is now second in the overall classification, cutting his disadvantage from the present championship leader and well ahead in the mix for 2024 title challenger.
At Galfer, we’re proud to see our technology contributing once again to top-level performances on the world stage. Congratulations to Can and the Evan Bros Racing Team for a weekend to remember — we’ll be watching closely as the championship battle continues.
