Pietra Ligure, in Italy, hosted the third race of the EDR World Cup and the first E-EDR, where Florencia Espineira and Florian Nicolai achieved podium finishes in 2nd and 3rd position respectively, riding their Orbea Wild and Fulgur Mula E-bikes equipped with Galfer Disc Shark rotors and brake pads.
This competition marked the beginning of the new E-EDR World Cup series, which took place alongside the third round of the Enduro World Cup in Pietra Ligure, in the Finale Outdoor Region. The Orbea Fox Enduro team stood out by securing their first podium with the Orbea Wild, a bike equipped with the renowned Galfer Shark rotors. Flo Espineira, using the Shark rotors and Galfer G1652 purple brake pads, achieved an impressive 2nd position after fiercely battling for victory until the last stage. Meanwhile, her teammates Martin Maes and Edgar Carballo also achieved notable positions, finishing within the top 20, with Maes in 12th position in the EDR category and Edgar in 18th position in the E-Bikes category.
In the men’s category, it is worth highlighting the impressive performance of Florian Nicolai, the talented French rider from the WeRide Fulgur Factory Team, who earned a well-deserved place on the podium after a tight competition. Additionally, Melanie Pugin, Nicolai’s teammate, showcased her skills by securing a notable 5th place in the women’s E-EDR category.
On another note, it is worth mentioning Janina Wüst’s participation in the UCI XCM competition, where she finished in 6th position, demonstrating her determination to reach the top spots.
The next enduro event will take place in Leogang on June 17th, while the XCM competition will be held in Andorra on July 8th.
