American rider Asa Vermette from the Frameworks Racing team clinched the 2024 Junior Men’s Downhill World Championship title at the UCI MTB World Championships held in Andorra, relying on Galfer components for precision braking.
The 17-year-old rising star delivered an outstanding performance, securing the gold medal and the coveted rainbow jersey, marking him as the world’s top Junior DH rider for the next year. Vermette clocked a winning time of 2:39.185, finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of his closest competitor and achieving the fourth fastest overall time, including Elite riders. Asa Vermette and the Frameworks Racing team equip their bikes with Galfer’s high-performance braking components, specifically the “Disc Wave®” and “Disc Shark®” rotors at the front and rear, respectively, paired with the Pro G1554T brake pads. These components are renowned for their powerful and precise braking performance, requiring no break-in period. French rider Mylann Falquet, also representing Galfer, secured a commendable 5th place in the Junior DH final.
In the Elite Men’s category, Spanish rider Ángel Suárez, a teammate of Asa’s, delivered the best performance among Galfer representatives, achieving an impressive 7th place finish. His fast, energetic, and secure descent highlighted the intense competition, with Suárez finishing just 1.3 seconds behind the winner. Another notable performance came from Martin Maes (Orbea Enduro Team), who competed on a modified electric bike frame (sans battery and motor) and achieved a commendable 20th place.
Other Galfer athletes also showcased their talent: Charlie Hatton (Continental Atherton) finished 19th, Nathan Pontvianne (Goodman Santacruz) 21st, Dani Castellanos (Planet MTB) 28th, Andreas Kolb (Continental Atherton) 29th, Sebastián Holguin (IJ Racing) 36th, and Juan F. Muñoz (IJ Racing) 45th.
