LORENZO BALDASSARRI, FROM CRASH TO PODIUM AT ASSEN

Fantastic results for Galfer riders at Assen with five top ten positions and a podium in the second race of the Supersport 600 class of the Dutch WSBK GP.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (#7), Galfer rider with the Evan Bros team, suffered a crash in the first race as he was attempting to improve his position, due to some strange manoeuvres by his opponents, forcing him to retire from the race. But that didn’t stop him: in the second race he led the entire race in the front group, battling for first place and managing to finish in a superb 2nd position, thus maintaining 2nd place in the standings with a total of 65 points. Baldassarri made up for the first race, returning to the podium with his Yamaha YZF R-6 equipped with Floatech® discs and Galfer brake pads.

In addition, Finland’s Niki Tuuli (#66), with the MV Agusta Reparto Corse team, came 6th and 7th in both races, and is currently 5th in the overall standings. His teammate Bahattin Sofuoğlu (#54) had a disappointing result in the first race, finishing 15th, but in the second race he made it into the top ten. The Dynavolt Triumph team suffered a crash with Stefano Manzi (#62) on the 9th curve, which forced him to retire from the first race, although in the second race he managed a creditable 6th position from the second group. His teammate, Estonian Hannes Soomer (#38), took 7th position in the first race and 5th position in the second race at the head of the chasing group.

The next WSBK round will take place at the Estoril circuit in Portugal from 20-22 May.
