JEREZ HELD THE START OF THE RED BULL MOTOGP ROOKIES CUP 2018

The 12th edition of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, a prestigious single-brand competition for young drivers, started at the circuit of Jerez coinciding with the Spanish MotoGP. The opening race offered an intense duel between two riders, Turkish Can Önçu, and Spanish Carlos Tatay. Both riders won one race and finished second in the other, entering less than one second apart. There were 24 riders at Jerez riding a KTM RC 250 R equipped with GALFER brake components: Racing Disc Wave® (ref. DF044CW15 front, and DF045W rear) and sintered brake pads FD168G1300 y FD441G1396.

As for the MotoGP races it was a difficult weekend for the GALFER representatives as none managed to climb up to the podium. The incident in Moto3 involving Arón Canet, Jorge Martín, Enea Bastianini and Tony Arbolino when they were fighting for the lead took all of them out of the race. The best result was for young rider Alonso López (Estrella Galicia 0,0) who almost reached the podium but finished 4th after a penalty. Italian rider Fabio di Giannantonio (Gresini Racing) was 7th.

In Moto2 Xavi Vierge finished 4th. This result puts him in 6th place in the general classification. The RW Racing riders Steven Odendaal and Joe Roberts had to withdraw when they were fighting to enter the scoring places.

And in MotoGP the Spanish rider Tito Rabat (Reale-Avintia Racing) scored two points after finishing 14th. His team mate, Belgian rider Xavi Simeón finished 17th.

The next race of the MotoGP championship will be held at Le Mans on May 18-20.
