GALFER LAUNCHES THE NEW CUBIQ BRAKE DISC FOR MOTORCYCLES

While searching for innovation and development, engineers at Industrias Galfer created a new concept in brake discs for high cylinder motorcycles: the CUBIQ disc. The great novelty of the disc is the shape of the brake track with hexagons that resemble the steel molecules and its crystal structure. With this shape we achieve a better cooling and a great weight loss, which results in a better maneuverability of the motorcycle.
The new CUBIQ disc was tested and validated in competition during last June’s 3h endurance race organized by Monlau Competición at the Calafat circuit. Ten Honda CBR 600 RR motorbikes equipped with the new CUBIQ discs and the Sinter Sport R G1375R brake pads rode the circuit simultaneously.

The main advantages and features of the new CUBIQ by GALFER are:

1. – BETTER COOLING
Increasing the convection perimeter there’s more cooling surface around the brake track and better temperature dissipation.

2. – WEIGHT REDUCTION
Increasing the cooling surface optimizes the friction surface and enables a lighter brake track design.

3. – HOMOGENEOUS WEAR OF THE BRAKE PADS
As there is the same contact surface between brake pad and disc in each turn, the brake pads wear evenly and there’s homogeneous pressure.

4. – DYNAMIC UNBALANCE DECREASE
Having less unsprung mass reduces the dynamic unbalance (gyroscopic effect) and improves the maneuverability of the motorcycle.

5. – STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY
The design of the CUBIQ brake track is inspired in the latest modern designs and contemporary elements.

6. – NAMED AFTER THE STEEL MOLECULES
The origin of the name CUBIQ comes from the molecules of the steel crystal structure.

The CUBIQ range will include fixed and floating discs. The floating ones will have variants with steel core or aluminum core.

The CUBIQ will be officially released at the international motorcycle show EICMA, in Milan (Italy) and it will arrive to the market on February 2020 for custom models (V-Twin / Harley Davidson) and several road and sporting motorbikes from 600cc up.

The new CUBIQ disc arrives to become a new benchmark on the brake components industry, just as the Disc Wave®, created also by GALFER 20 years ago.
