The Spanish rider from the Honda 114 Motorsports team took third place in the UK GP and is now the leader in the overall MX2 World Championship standings.
Rubén Fernández clinched the overall lead in the MX2 championship after his second podium finish of the season at Matterley Basin (UK). Fernández, who had already set the fastest time in qualifying, had two very solid races where he finished 2nd and 6th respectively, which gave him 3rd position on the final podium in the second round of the MX2 2021 season. Rubén is now ahead by 5 points in the standings thanks to his consistency and his Honda CRF 250 R equipped with GALFER Disc Wave® RWS discs and Racing G13963R sintered brake pads. In the same category, German rider Simon Längenfelder (DIGA Procross GASGAS) finished in 6th place after two top ten finishes.
In the premier MXGP class, the Italian Alessandro Lupino (MRT Racing Team KTM) once again performed well, setting the 5th best time in the timed qualifying section and 10th place in the overall race. Lupino is now 7th overall in the world championship standings. Meanwhile, GALFER rider Jeremy Van Horebeek (Beta SDM Corse) finished the GP in 11th position after an excellent 8th place finish in the second race.
And in the European Motocross categories, there was a podium finish for the Norwegian Kevin Horgmo (SM Action GASGAS) who finished 2nd in the EMX250. In EMX125, Valerio Lata (MRT Racing Team KTM) took 7th position.
